Fooled you, and you, and you, and of course YOU!

by Urgo on April 1, 2004

What a busy day. I figured running an april fools day page would generate a lot of traffic and be very popular, but I never imagined that over 325 links would be submitted! The day is still not over yet I generated almost as much traffic to urgo.org today then I did all last month! About 60,000 hits and 16,000 unique visitors! One nice person from www.kawvalley.net even donated $1 =]
I have returned urgo dot org to its normal look and feel but if you want to see the april fools day page I saved it forever here.
Today was a real fun day. I even got an orkut account out of it! .. Just wish I could get a metafilter account. Even though its only 8:30pm I’m getting ready to end my day as tomorrow I fly to texas to start my job. Go The Digital Realm.
NOTE: visitors to the april fools page. Since very soon I will not be able to add any more links to the page (sleep + business trip) you should leave a comment on this thread with the link to the joke page so people can see it.
Good night and HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!

Twistedportal- Fired all the staff, turned it into a “Console only” website, and other interesting things. Very convincing to the visitors.
forumsector- Forums were “Haxored” and the entire forum was inverted and reversed 🙂

The band gave us some bad news. They said they lost everything from the recording of the new album, and that the bassist was missing.

Some fun news:
NEW MERCHANDISE IN NIGHTWISH-SHOP!
“‘Forever Yours’ handcuffs and ‘Just like Marco’ fake beard are now for sale in Nightwish-Shop. ‘Forever Yours’-handcuffs are made from stainless steel and comes with one key only. So you’ll have total control to the cuffs and it’s you who desides when your partner is free to go. ‘Just Like Marco’ fake beard comes with two perfectly real looking Marco beards and a strong glue. Glue is strong enough to hold even if your friends deside to try if beard is really yours. So you’re really able to fool people that you have as cool beard as Marco has. NIGHTWISH-SHOP!”
These were the pics (the news have been removed, but the links are still working as I write):

Changing of title to Pirate Arcade, Interface color change, Forum listing to an interactive picture of the FFVI map, Admin name change to “Great Pirate Roberts,” restriction of all top posters to a single forum entitled “The Brig,” re-creation of A.F.Rica, a forum where anyone can make stickies, polls, and announcements and submit posts under any username, addition of “Carrot Top” to everyone’s sigs, giving several random people modship (including me) and encouraging meaningless posts for unlocking people from “The Brig.”
Of course, the aftermath resulted in some popular people being banned or jailed and the removal of modship from one of the top mods.
