Urgo Dot Org: Fire at UMass
April 22, 2003
Fire at UMass

So at 8pm this evening I hear a four fire engines drive by my dorm (the next road over), then a bunch of police cars. I look out of my window and see giant clouds of smoke. After turning my lights off in my room I notice I can actually see fire! It appears to be at the greenhouses that are right outside my dorm (about three hundred feet away).

I grab my digi cam and by 8:15pm I'm on the scene. When I got there there were huge flames rising from the tiny building in between Morill, heath services, and the greenhouses.

It was dark and the police had the crowd locked down pretty well so I can't say how it ended up yet, but most of the building is gone as far as I can tell now. More news tomorrow.

The pictures of the event can be found here: http://urgo.org/gallery/fireatumass

errh that post didn't make sense let me try again. It was on of the art department's buildings where they had metal working classes and such. Yeah that was better. It is pretty much the nameless building though.
