Urgo Dot Org: A cure to your Sunday boredom

A cure to your Sunday boredom

READ THE FULL DIRECTIONS BEFORE CLICKING ANYTHING

I saw this linked off of mefi today. Pretty cool exercise to try out. So you don't spoil it for yourself don't visit the comments section of this entry or the source above as people might/do talk about what happens until after you complete the steps below.

First, you must follow the rules. Watch this short video. You are only allowed to watch it once. Seriously, do not cheat! In the video you will see a group of basketball players, some in white and some in black passing two balls around. Your goal is to count how many times the ball is passed by those wearing white shirts. It’s that simple. Remember, count just the passes of the ball by those wearing white. Once the movie is over, write down the number of passes you have counted, Do not watch the video again-- after viewing, proceed to step two.

Okay so put your results here =]

Doh I don't know if I was just not taking this seriously or if I was too tired. But it didn't work on me I saw the gorilla. And I counted 10-12.

I counted 15, (which was the correct answer upon careful inspection). That experiment rules.

I think the CS part of my brain kicked in. After the first few, counting was so easy, they rotated between the two males and the female in a circular fashion. It was trivial to notice when the switch was made.

And so I could sit back and watch the...

I got this right; saw the gorilla and guessed the right amount. Was talking with you at the time, Urgo, on IM, but forgot to post my results.

Give me a call when you get a chance; I need your new phone/cell phone number.

Jay you should display the last mobile blog thumbnail on the left instead of that phone pic. Just a suggestion.

Too bad I had already heard about this experiment. Though, I think I would have noticed anyway. I would have gotten annoyed at the big black thing that was slowly walking through obstructing my view.

I counted 14/15 passes.

Hi Jay.
Not only had I heard about this before, and seen this type of experiment in person, but right before watching it I thought to myself "they'll probably do somthing like have a gorrilla walk through". Still missed it.
