Urgo Dot Org: Easter Egg Hunt
March 28, 2005
Easter Egg Hunt

When most people think of Easter Egg Hunts they think of children looking for hidden dyed hard boiled eggs around the house, or perhaps in a park, but today, at age 24, I had my own sort of Easter Egg hunt.

The scenario was simple; today was Easter and I needed Cadbury Eggs to satisfy my chocolate craving so I (along with my roommate, hypervoid) would head out to the grocery store (Wegmens) to pick up said Cadbury Eggs. When we got to Wegmens we went straight for the candy isle and were suppressed and disappointed to see that there were no Cadbury eggs! Not even an empty container or sign that showed that they at least used to have them and were sold out, however even so that was most likely the case.

Anyway, we picked up a few groceries from Wegmens and then decided to try another store. In years past I’ve always stopped by CVS the days after Easter because they always have lots of leftover Cadbury eggs and other Easter treats so that was where we were headed. CVS was just a mile or two down the road so in no time we were entering the store heading again towards the candy isle. I’m sure you can probably guess by now what we found, or rather didn’t find. Another store with no Cadbury eggs!!

By now hypervoid and I were getting a little annoyed but still determined to find hidden eggs so we headed a little further down the road to Rite Aid which you guessed it, was sold out as well. Rite Aid at least had imitation Cadbury Eggs and mini Cadbury Eggs but not the normal sided crème eggs that we were looking for.

After leaving Rite Aid, right across the street was an Exxon station so it was the next logical stop. Gas stations usually have a wide selection of candy, but they seemed to have everything except Cadbury eggs at this location. The clerk at the store said that they had them in the past but he confirmed that they were sold out today.

Now after 4 stores hypervoid was getting fed up but I would not give up that easily! A little further down the road was another gas station, Sunoco. As soon as I got into this store however I knew that it was a bad choice. There was barely enough room to turn around and look at all of their products, and none of them were Cadbury eggs.

At this point we turned around and headed back towards the apartment to hit the stores on the other side of the road. Next up was Crown gas station where they had a big selection of foods and candies, but absolutely no Easter candy.

7-11 was next on the hit list and came up short as well.

By now we were just about home and hypervoid would only stop at two more stores, Kmart which was right across the road, and the Giant (another grocery store) that was right next to our apartment. I however would continue on in my car if these two stores didn’t have the hidden eggs either. Kmart ended up being just like Rite Aid however. They had Easter candy, but not the kind we wanted.

Now we were at the final store hypervoid would check before giving up and heading home, Giant. We mentioned to each other on the way over here that they probably would have the Cadbury eggs just because they were the closest store to our apartment, a five minute walk from our front door. We entered the store and saw that Oreo’s were on sale and hypervoid decided to look for a flyer to see what else was on sale. I of course scouted the isles looking for the hidden treasure hoping that we would hit the jackpot here.. and…. I FOUND 4 SINGLE EGGS!! I felt like a kid in a candy store. I found my Easter eggs at last! At first glance however there looked like there were only four Cadbury eggs left, not nearly enough for hypervoid and myself, but after a little more investigation I found that we really did hit the jackpot. Further down the isle there were two and a half cases of 4-packs!

I picked up four 4-packs of eggs and went off looking for hypervoid to show him that our hunt was over. Both of us were relieved that after checking 9 stores we finally were in egg heaven. We picked up a few other pieces of Easter candy and headed home with a happy ending.

MMmmmmmm Cadbury Eggs.

This brought me to the brink of a huge belly laugh. The best Urgo adventure yet, and by far the best easter egg hunt story i've heard. Next easter i'll be sure to send you some Cadbury eggs. Unless you're going to make this a yearly ritual?
